A-1 Roofing & Waterproofing Restoration has worked on South Florida roofs since 2012. As a family-run roofing company headquartered at 1608 NW 7th Terrace in Pompano Beach, we sit near the middle of our service area, so most Broward and south Palm Beach County addresses are a short drive from our crews.
The three counties we cover share the same heat, salt air and hurricane season, but they do not share the same rules. Broward and Miami-Dade fall inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) of the Florida Building Code. Palm Beach County does not, although its design wind speeds are still among the highest in the country. Each city also runs its own building department, permit portal and inspection schedule.
Our job as your South Florida roofing company is to know those differences before we quote, so the permit, product approvals and inspections go smoothly. Whether you need roof repair, a full roof replacement or waterproofing for a balcony or concrete structure, we handle it the same careful way in every city.
Choose your county for local building code details, permit notes and every city we serve there.
Our home county and HVHZ territory. Roofing products need HVHZ-rated approvals, and every re-roof is permitted and inspected by the local building department. We serve the 27 Broward communities listed below.
Outside the HVHZ, but with design wind speeds of roughly 150 to 170 mph for typical homes. Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and West Palm Beach are full of tile roofs, country club communities and strict HOA review.
The strictest roofing environment in Florida. Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) product approvals, tightened after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and HVHZ installation rules govern every roof in the county.
In all three counties we also work on flat roofs, condo buildings and HOA communities, including roof restoration coatings and concrete waterproofing ahead of milestone inspections.
Out-of-area contractors tend to appear after big storms. They may not know that a tile roof in Fort Lauderdale needs HVHZ-approved underlayment and fastening, that Coral Springs limits roof tile colors, or that many Weston and Boca Raton communities require HOA architectural approval before a permit can even be filed.
We pull permits in our own name, use products with the approvals your city requires, and schedule the in-progress inspections ourselves. Every job gets extra layers of protection around penetrations, exhaust vents and returns, because those are the spots where South Florida roofs leak first.
We also give you a straight answer on repair versus replacement. Any roof over 15 years old in South Florida should be evaluated for replacement, especially before hurricane season or an insurance renewal. A roof inspection is the place to start.
5 to 20 yrs
Residential roof replacements carry a written workmanship warranty of 5 to 20 years. Repairs carry 1 to 3 years and waterproofing 5 to 15 years.
We serve Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties from our shop in Pompano Beach. Most of our work is in Broward and south Palm Beach County, and we also take projects in Miami and other Miami-Dade communities. Call 954-741-9759 if your city is not listed.
Yes. Broward and Miami-Dade are in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which calls for HVHZ-approved roofing products and stricter installation and inspection. Palm Beach County follows the standard Florida Building Code wind provisions with high design wind speeds. Local amendments and permit procedures also vary by city.
Yes. We prepare and submit the roofing permit, including product approvals and required forms, and we schedule the inspections. If your HOA needs architectural approval first, we supply the material and color details they ask for.
