Siding, Roofing and Exterior Work Our Customers Trust

Siding work usually goes hand in hand with roofing, soffit and fascia repairs. Read what homeowners say about our crews, how clearly we explained the job, and how carefully we treated their property.

Siding installation where Pompano Beach homes need it

Most homes in South Florida are concrete block covered in stucco, so full-house siding is less common here than in other parts of the country. Siding still shows up in plenty of places: wood-frame homes, second-story and garage additions, gable ends, older cottages, coastal and Key West style homes, and the soffit and fascia on nearly every house.

A-1 Roofing & Waterproofing Restoration handles siding installation, siding repair and siding replacement as part of our exterior work. Because we are also roofers and waterproofing contractors, we pay close attention to the places where siding meets the roof, windows and doors, which is where water usually gets in.

Many siding jobs start with a roof or gutter visit. If wall-to-roof flashing or gutters are sending water behind the siding, we fix that too, so the new siding stays dry.

Siding materials for Pompano Beach homes

Heat, humidity, salt air, termites and hurricane winds all shape which siding holds up. These are the options we install and repair most often.

Hardie board siding

Fiber cement siding such as James Hardie resists rot, termites and fire and holds paint well in the sun. It is heavier and needs careful installation, but it is a strong fit for coastal and frame homes.

Vinyl siding

Low cost and low maintenance, with no painting required. In South Florida, product selection and fastening matter because of wind loads, so we use products approved for use in Florida and install them to the manufacturer’s high-wind details.

Soffit and fascia

Vented aluminum or vinyl soffit and aluminum-wrapped or new wood fascia protect the roof edge and support your gutters. Rotted fascia is one of the most common exterior repairs we make.

Wood and engineered siding

Existing wood lap, board and batten and T1-11 siding can often be repaired board by board. When rot and termites are widespread, we discuss replacing it with fiber cement.

Coastal-style home with painted siding

Siding repair or siding replacement?

Siding repair is the right call when damage is limited to a few boards, a corner, or the area around a leak. We remove the damaged boards, check the sheathing and house wrap underneath, fix the source of the water, and blend in new boards to match.

Siding replacement makes sense when rot, termite damage or storm damage is widespread, when old siding is cracking and failing, or when you are adding on and want the whole wall to match. Replacement also lets us install new house wrap and flashing, which is often the real upgrade.

How a siding project works

Small siding repairs are often done in a day. Replacement projects are scheduled around permits and material delivery.

Permits and materials

Where a permit is required, we pull it. We order siding and trim that match your home and suit Florida wind requirements.

Remove and repair

Damaged siding comes off, and we repair sheathing, add house wrap and correct flashing at windows, doors and roof lines.

Install and finish

New siding and trim are installed, sealed where needed and cleaned up, with a final walkthrough together.

Siding questions

Do you install siding on stucco homes?

Most stucco-over-block homes do not need siding. We typically install siding on frame additions, gable ends, frame homes and coastal-style homes. For stucco walls that leak, see our exterior wall waterproofing service.

Is Hardie board or vinyl siding better in Florida?

Both can work. Fiber cement siding like Hardie board resists rot, termites and fire and has a more solid feel. Vinyl costs less and needs no paint. We walk you through the tradeoffs for your home and budget.

Does siding installation need a permit?

In most South Florida cities, replacing exterior wall cladding requires a building permit, and products must be approved for use in Florida. Rules vary by city, so we confirm what is required before work starts.

Can you repair soffit and fascia only?

Yes. Soffit and fascia repair is one of our most common exterior jobs, and it is often done alongside gutter or roof work.

Are you licensed for siding work?

Yes. A-1 holds a certified building contractor license (CBC1263521) and a certified roofing contractor license (CCC1333587), and is fully insured.
