We earn our reviews one roof at a time. Read what customers across South Florida say about our inspections, our written estimates and the way our crews treat their homes and buildings.
Miami roofs work harder than almost any in the country. Summer storms drop inches of rain in an hour, salt air drifts in from Biscayne Bay, and every roof has to be ready for hurricane season. That is why Miami-Dade sits inside Florida’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone, and why choosing Miami roofers who know those rules matters.
A-1 Roofing & Waterproofing Restoration is a family-run contractor based in Pompano Beach, in Broward County, which is also in the HVHZ. We have built and repaired roofs to HVHZ standards since 2012, and we serve Miami and the rest of Miami-Dade from our Pompano Beach base. We schedule Miami projects in advance and bring the same crews, warranties and honesty to every job.
The city’s housing stock is as varied as its neighborhoods: 1920s Mediterranean Revival homes in Coral Way and Shenandoah, bungalows and mid-century homes in the Upper Eastside and Coconut Grove, block homes with flat roofs in Little Havana, and condo towers from Brickell to Edgewater. We look at what you have before recommending anything.
In the HVHZ, roofing products must carry a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) or equivalent approval under the Florida Building Code. The NOA spells out exactly how a tile, shingle, membrane or underlayment has to be installed to resist uplift, and inspectors check the installation against it.
The City of Miami runs its own Building Department, separate from the county, so permits for homes inside city limits go through the city. Properties in other municipalities or unincorporated areas follow their own building offices. We confirm the correct jurisdiction and handle the permit, the required inspections and the paperwork.
For larger buildings, Miami-Dade’s building recertification program now generally starts at 30 years for buildings over 2,000 square feet, excluding single-family homes and duplexes, and roofs, balconies and concrete often need work to pass. Condos three stories or taller also fall under Florida’s milestone inspection law.

A Notice of Acceptance is a product approval issued by Miami-Dade County. In the HVHZ, roofing products need an NOA or equivalent Florida approval, and the NOA sets how the product must be installed.
